FOOD & DRINK
The Turquoise Thistle is a cosy, atmospheric restaurant, bar & lounge located right in the heart of Edinburgh, next to our Edinburgh city centre hotel.
Our focus is simple: To create a vibrant and informal environment with hand selected dishes and drinks. Our Scottish motto is to always “Gie it laldy” - Give it 100%.
We enjoy mixing our Scottish roots into the menu with plenty of local flavours and seasonal ingredients throughout. Menu highlights include Chicken Balmoral served with traditional neeps and tatties or a top notch Scottish beef burger with fries.
Other dishes include European influences such as pasta and burgers. Every meal can be accompanied by a selection of local craft beers and ales.
Chef describes this menu as a selection of his favourite foods with a Scottish twist to delight and sustain.
We have something to suit everyone’s taste on our menu. Enjoy a warm Scottish welcome with tasty local food and enjoy a great night out.
Beer Battered Fish, Chicken Balmoral and – of course – Scottish Haggis are among the hand-selected dishes on the main menu. The wild mushroom risotto with parmesan shavings is a firm favourite.
Burger lovers can choose from a large selection including the popular mac & cheese burger.
Puddings are not neglected on this menu!
Be tempted by ‘vanilla cheesecake with fruit compote’ or a ‘peanut butter brownie with ice cream’. For the ultimate in decadent puddings choose a ‘Chocolate Torte with praline salted caramel ice cream’ or ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch and ice cream”.
You can’t stay with us at our Edinburgh city centre hotel without trying a ‘Wee Dram’.
We have a selection of fine whisky to take you around the most famous Scottish distilleries, with the occasional stop off in places such as Wales and Japan. Alternatively try one of our craft beers or ‘softies’.
Our Edinburgh city centre hotel lies within the Edinburgh UNESCO World Heritage site and occupies five original Georgian townhouses just moments from both Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle. We have preserved many of the original features including decorative stairwells and a unique cupola. The chic and contemporary interior reflects the life and vibrancy of Edinburgh today. There are 60 individual bedrooms and junior suites at our Edinburgh city centre hotel to choose from and our regular guests have their firm favourites. Each guestroom is individually decorated reflecting the neighbourhood story with details of Edinburgh’s rich history and Summer Festival traditions.
